British Polar Engines Limited workshops are staffed by highly trained personnel with years of experience. They are equipped with high standard machine tools and specialised equipment, supported by quality inspection and engineering departments.
Overhauling engine component parts in British Polar Engines workshops cuts back overhaul times and guarantees quality, reducing the risk of breakdown during operation. Most of the necessary spare parts are held in stock and work is carried out according to BPE quality procedures or customer-nominated classiﬁcation society rules.
If needed, we will take care of the logistic chain between your installation and our works.
We can also provide exchange component parts.
Engine Test. At the Glasgow works, British Polar Engines has an engine test facility which is capable of testing engines in the power range from 20 BHP (15 KW) up to 2,500 BHP (1,865 KW). The engine test bed and test driving arrangement can be adapted to suit most engine makes and models, no matter the application, marine propulsion, industrial or marine generators.
We can also test complete generator sets with various power ratings up to 2 megawatt.
A team of fully qualified test engineers is available on-site to set up the engine test rig and monitoring equipment and carry out engine tests to BPE quality standard procedures or to meet with customer’s specific test requirements.
Lifting equipment up to 30 tons is available.
Machine Shop. British Polar Engines Limited has comprehensive machine shop facilities including CNC turning machines.
In line with BPE company policy of continuous development and investment we have recently purchased and installed a new Toyoda CNC machining centre at our Glasgow works.
The main purpose of this machine is to produce the component parts for British Polar and Kelvin Engines with greatly improved efficiency. In addition, the machine will also be used to expand our machining capability, diversification and capacity, improving our response to customers’ sub contract and specialised machining work requirements.
